Earlier this year, I came across this link about how practicing “mindful photography” can be a fun, simple exercise that boosts happiness and promotes greater well-being.

They are several reasons why these are so popular now. No doubt that it’s fun to color, but the numerous mental and physical health benefits is what’s accounting for its record selling success.

Even though I meditate twice a day, I like to incorporate some coloring into my schedule. It truly gets my mind out of things, helps me relax, and even hits my creative side. Some days I actually feel proud of my color combinations.

Why coloring and meditation are often compared?
Dr. Stan Rodski, a neuropsychologist and author of an adult line of coloring books, explained the similarities between coloring and meditation. He says that just as Mindfulness meditation, coloring can also help to anchor yourself in the present moment and achieve a relaxed state of mind. Furthermore, other studies done by Dr. Joel Pearson, a brain scientist from the University of New South Wales in AU, concluded that coloring helps you to replace negative thoughts with pleasant ones decreasing levels of anxiety, stress and even depression.
