Our Junior Cookies winter term event dates are ready, we are glad to say we will be holding our monthly clubs on the following dates....

Recipe: Shepherds pie pasties, a twist on a great British classic, a traditional shepherds pie filling inside a shortcrust pastry shell, great served hot or cold.

Our Junior Cookies winter term event dates are ready, we are glad to say we will be holding our monthly clubs on the following dates....

Recipe: Shepherds pie pasties, a twist on a great British classic, a traditional shepherds pie filling inside a shortcrust pastry shell, great served hot or cold.

Each club session is two and a half hours long, during that time our Creative Cooks make at least one recipe from scratch to bring home and share.

Creative Cooks get to be responsible for the recipe from start to finish, starting with preparing the ingredients right through to washing the pans at the end!

It means that they are not only learning to make a recipe and learning about the ingredients but they are also learning how to be in a kitchen. They will learn basic food hygiene when preparing the ingredients, they will learn how to safely use equipment such as sharp knives and cookers and they’ll learn the importance of a tidy workspace, tidying up as they go. The kitchen is laid out so that all of our cooks are around the same bench which creates a really friendly atmosphere, they chat away as they go along but they also have their own set of equipment and own cooker which gives them a sense of independence.
